Max and Jason Feature Friends of TOMS
by ERICA LIEPMANN, Causecast Editor
For every pair of shoes that TOMS sells, Friends of TOMS rallies together volunteers to touch-down all over the world giving away free shoes to children in need. Without shoes, children are at risk of developing podoconiosis, a disease that’s just as awful as its name sounds. Podoconiosis includes swelling, ulcers and deformity of the feet and legs. With their work in New Orleans, South Africa, Argentina and more, Friends of TOMS is working to end podoconiosis in the world.
On tonight’s episode of Current TV’s Still Up, hunky Causecast leaders Max and Jason will be featuring Friends of TOMS in an episode all about some cool places to work. For all you night owls, check it out tonight at midnight.
If you’re feeling pretty stoked on Friends of TOMS, here are some ways to help:
Donate to Friends of TOMS directly on their Causecast page.
Buy some cool shoes. Your purchase will send a free pair to someone who needs them. Lately, I’ve been lusting after the Women’s Neon Aqua Fade ones.
Volunteer at a Shop Drop. You can personally hand-off shoes to people who need them and see first hand the impact Friends of TOMS is having around the world.
