Last year, Weight Watchers launched the Lose for Good Campaign — a six week initiative in which they match members’ weight loss with financial contributions to organizations fighting global hunger. In 2008, Weight Watchers members lost over four million pounds during the six week period and Weight Watchers donated $1 million to feed hungry children around the world.

This year, the Lose for Good campaign is back again – kicking off August 30 and running until October 17. Causecast leader Jenny McCarthy is leading the charge, encouraging Americans everywhere to drop those pounds! Based on how much weight people lose, Weight Watchers will donate up to $1 million to their featured organizations, Share Our Strength and Action Against Hunger. Weight Watchers recognizes the need to fight hunger at home and abroad – Share Our Strength is a domestic program, working to ensure no American child goes hungry, while Action Against Hunger is an international organization fighting malnourishment in developing countries.

What if you don’t need to lose any weight? Don’t worry, there’s still tons of ways to help:

•Weight Watchers will be organizing canned food drives during the six week campaign, so get those cans out of your cupboard and pass them along to someone in need.
•Just blog or tweet about the initiative! On September 15, Weight Watchers is hosting Lose-A-Palooza, a social media action day where WW will make additional donations for every mention of the campaign on social media platforms, up to $25,000.
•Donate to Share Our Strength or Action Against Hunger online.
