Organization Description
Stoked Mentoring is a unique non-profit organization that develops innovative mentoring programs exposing “at risk” youth and their mentors to action sports as a means to develop and foster resiliency, determination and success. Through hands-on partnerships with social service agencies, Stoked presents and oversees several programs yearly, including Snow Mentor, Skate Mentor and Surf Mentor. Responsible for developing the curriculum for each mentoring program/ season, Stoked will recruit and train program mentors and teachers/coaches, hand-match mentor and mentee, manage the mentoring relationship for optimal results and oversee follow up post-season. The current programs are targeted towards teens 13 – 18 years old.
Founder Steve Larosiliere, along with Co-founder, Sal Masekela believed that the courage and perseverance needed to learn action sports would be an ideal way to teach those life skills to at –risk and disadvantaged youth. Combining life lessons with the power of mentoring and a supportive community, Stoked Mentoring was born. Through Stoked, teens gain a supportive, encouraging mentor along with a team of people determined to see them succeed.
By introducing mentoring pairs to action sports, the very things many of us were warned against are now creating a positive environment and a foundation for teens. And one teen at a time, counterculture WILL change the world.

I really like the idea to use outside activities to inspire kids to stay involved and become motivated. SOcializing and playing team sports I feel is important for growth.
Hi, my name is Elle Maloney and I am the ED of an organisation called Zero Ceiling (www.zeroceiling.org) based in Canada. We do similar work and I'd love to talk to you about your skate and surf programmes.....
I belong to a nonr profit making organisation in Kabwe,Zambia called Grace HIV/AIDS,TB Support Programmes(GHASP).We have lined up a number of activities which are mainly focused in HIV/ADS mitigation in the community, this is mainly on prevention and we have activities for youths and children, and this involve drama in the community, schools and some other public places. Now we are financially, and materially(lack transport and leaflets for distribution) handcaped and as such we are unable to rich out to all communities. My request for anything that you can contribute to us for this noble cause; to be sent through our postal address:Grace Church in Zambia,Freedom way,P.O.Box 80236,Kabwe.Zambia. or better still through my Barclays Bank Account number:016-1056707,Lusaka.Zambia.
I am a yoga instructor here in Los Angeles and would love to bring yoga to the youth population in this area. Can you guide me in the direction to make this happen. I think this practice, while not an action sport, is really beneficial for all and can really help at-risk youth to keep a healthy, positive mindset. Thanks!
